Antique Barker Ellis Silver Plate Engraved Serving Tray with Menorah Hallmark/Marked England

First established in 1801, Barker Brothers Silversmiths merged with Ellis & Company in the 1960's becoming Barker Ellis Silver Company, Ltd. Located on the bottom of this magnificent silver plate on copper is the "Menorah" hallmark used by Barker Ellis and is signed "England". This classic rectangular serving tray measures approximately 24-1/4" long (at handles) x 9-1/4" wide, with the inside and base measuring about 17-1/4" long x 6" wide, and features intricate metalworking craftsmanship of elaborately stylized floral and acanthus leaves motif, an ornately cast border of deeply cut leaves, spectacular piercework cut-out detail, four round bun feet, two handles with double cascading leaves together with a seamless vector pattern of embossed floral and scroll designs. This amazing antique is in excellent vintage condition for an item over 50 years old and has no apparent dents or dings, however, there are some superficial marks on the bottom, and within the center design are a few spots and loss of silver plate exposing some of the copper coloring within the detailed engraving.
