Description

This is an interesting one. A 2003 transitional model between Gretsch-owned Gretsch and FMIC-owned Gretsch. July ‘03 Hot Rod. Total transition model as it appears to have more of the correct body shape and not the bigger pre-FMIC body. Smaller neck heel vs the wider heel on pre-FMIC models. -Also came stock with Grover tuners and not the Gretsch branded tuners of pre-Fender norm. I installed Sperzels immediately ala Mr. Setzer. -No rosewood board either - full on ebony board. -ABR-1 bridge with the wire as opposed to the pre-FMIC Nashville-type bridge. *Although the bridge is pinned, I still double taped it down. I learned that from Paul who used to work at Ace Music in Santa Monica back in the day. He worked on Brian’s guitars when Brian lived around the corner. -TV Jones Classics -TV Jones wiring harness and treble bleed circuit. -Plain pickguard - no Hot Rod with the flames on it. -Added Schaller strap locks. -And the most important thing for me...no trestle bracing - tone post all the way! Anyone knows tone post is the way to go and actually the reason why Brian loved the first Hot Rods - more alive tone. Original Gretsch hardshell case goes without saying.
