TLDR: Sentimental woman writes lengthy narrative to describe her beloved, departing dining table instead of just saying “$40, need gone asap.” This table is well-loved, I can’t and wouldn’t dream of lying to you about that. This table has hosted hundreds of gatherings, from kids birthday parties, to game nights, to dinner parties. This table has witnessed many art projects, homeschool lessons, and food spills as six children grew up around her soft and welcoming edges. This table provided a kindly surface for countless precious Lego builds and jigsaw puzzles. This table has seen laughter, meaningful late-night conversations, arguments and reconciliations, tears of grief and tears of math homework frustration, bellows of triumph, squeals of delight as Easter baskets were opened and birthday candles were blown out, and so many more moments, one couldn’t possibly recall them all. In short, this table has watched not one, but two generations of children grow up. We will miss the old gal, but it’s time for her to sail along to other shores for new adventures. From Belgium, where she was built and originally purchased nearly thirty years ago, all the way here to Virginia where she’s lovingly graced at least six different dining rooms across various moves… we wonder where she will go next? Perhaps to your home - you, who is looking for an art table or craft table that is already a bit rough around the edges so you don’t mind more paint spills or hot glue gun burns? Or perhaps you, who is looking for a casual “kid” table or kitchen table, and you don’t mind a few warps in the wood or pre-existing scratches and blemishes? Or maybe even you, who enjoys a good fixer-upper furniture project and has the vision, time, and skill to transform this ugly duckling into a beautiful swan once again? If any of that sounds like you, then we’d be honored to provide just what you’re looking for! Here she is in all her unashamed glory. The table was, as previously mentioned, crafted in Belgium, and is solid wood. What kind of wood? I couldn’t tell you. Included will be the protective table covers as well, though they may serve as more of a comedic purpose at this point, as the wood beneath has certainly not been properly protected, so we’re not really sure what it needs protecting from anymore at this point. The table seats 8-10 when fully extended, and 6-8 when collapsed; the middle leaf tucks into the table itself, but adventurers be wary - the stow-away system is currently a bit precarious. We discovered this upon closing her up for her final send-off voyage. I will say, if you have even a singular handy bone in your body, you could easily remedy the situation by reinstalling a new L-shaped bracket. But for now, she’s sea-worthy enough to journey from our home to yours. If I were pricing this magnificent vessel based on sentimental value alone, she’d be worth more than the queen’s crown jewels. However, by simpler standards of value, accounting for the hefty damages she’s incurred, yet the life she still has left in her, I’m happy to let her go for about $40. I’m willing to entertain lower offers, or barters for items such as enchanted cloaks or a fully operational wizard’s staff. Serious offers only, as you can see I’m a very serious person and this is very serious business. Time is of the essence, and we are urgently hoping someone will whisk her away soon, as her replacement is on the way, and I’d hate to break her poor heart by her having to witness that arrival. Not sure her fragile heart could handle that! I look forward to facilitating the exchanges and entrusting my beloved friend to her next family. 🫡
