By now, batteries need to be replaced. ERNIE is attached by wire to box. IF YOU WANT ME TO REMOVE HIM FROM BOX AND TEST WITH NEW BATTERIES, SEND A MESSAGE. I can’t test him, batteries are expired. Way he’s attached. I can’t get to back side without removing doll from box. PURCHASED new, in 1990s at AMES STORE. Remained in storage tote, since then. CONDITION NOTES: Small mark stain on collar. Should come out with spot treatment. Will leave that for you to do. MUCH storage BOX WEAR AND MARKS SEE PICS MOST LIKELY,BATTERY CORROSION. You’ll need to clean or replace, where battery tips touch. I opened another one I have and some batteries were corroded. Most likely, this one too. I WILL OPEN AND REMOVE BATTERIES BEFORE SHIPMENT Original batteries from 1997, it came with, have been in there since purchased. Maybe someone handy could fix battery holder.
