Description

These are vintage Chinese guardian lion (Foo Dog) and bear hand-carved stone seals or stamps. They are known commonly as "Foo Dogs" in the West, but are more accurately Chinese guardian lions. The figures are carved from stone, likely soapstone or Shoushan stone, and are used as personal stamps or seals. In Chinese culture, these guardian figures are believed to ward off evil spirits and bring good luck. The set includes three individual seals, each with a different animal figure on top.
