Description

TEAC 25-2 Tascam Series 25-2 reel-to-reel tape recorder w/separate Amp (see photos). Vintage 1970’s. Lights up when plugged in. Otherwise untested (I have no reel-to-reel tapes). Includes; power cord, and both 12 pin power and playback patch cords. Was in a overhead "rack" made out of fiberboard that disintegrated with age. In storage space for 10+ years. A 1/2 track recorder with a 1/4 track playback head, the TEAC 25-2 is very similar to the A-7300 but differs in 3 respects. The preamplifier is separate for greater portability, 4 heads and 4 optional DBX optional plugin boards. The A-7300 was offered as a low speed or high-speed recorder, where the 25-2, not surprisingly is 7 1/2 and 15 ips. One of the best TEAC machines ever made. This is one of those decks that if you look under the hood, it reveals that Teac was putting everything into the engineering and component selections. The TEAC 25-2 is quite a good sounding machine and super reliable. The top-end consumer machines that Teac produced after this, have nothing to compare in terms of the go for it all approach that they put into this machine. [Description] TEAC Tascam Series 25-2 reel-to-reel tape recorder. First introduced by Tascam, a subsidiary of TEAC, in the early 1970s, it was designed for use in recording studios and broadcasting facilities, and quickly became a popular choice among audio professionals due to its high-quality sound and advanced features. The Series 25-2 is a two-track, quarter-inch tape recorder that uses open-reel magnetic tape to record and playback audio. It has a maximum tape speed of 15 inches per second, and can record at both 7.5 and 15 ips. The machine is capable of handling tape reels up to 10.5 inches in diameter, and has a built-in tape tension control system to ensure accurate tape transport. The Series 25-2 has a number of advanced features that make it a popular choice among audio professionals. It features a three-head design with separate record, playback, and erase heads, which allows for more precise recording and editing. It also has a built-in noise reduction system, which helps to reduce background noise and improve the overall sound quality of recordings. Other features of the Series 25-2 include a VU meter for monitoring recording levels, a pitch control for adjusting tape speed, and a variety of input and output options, including XLR and RCA connectors. It also has a built-in cueing system, which allows users to listen to specific sections of a recording without having to rewind or fast-forward the tape. Overall, the TEAC Tascam Series 25-2 is a high-quality, professional-grade tape recorder that has been used by audio professionals in recording studios and broadcasting facilities around the world. Its advanced features and high-quality sound make it a popular choice among musicians, sound engineers, and other professionals who demand the best in audio recording technology.
