Overview: Up for sale is this fantastic woodblock print, "The Maples of Takao in Kyoto," which depicts the famous red bridge in Takao, just outside of Kyoto. It's a colorful and well-rendered print. This print was produced by Eiichi Kotozuka. Kotozuka was born in Kyoto and was one of the major forces in the shin hanga movement. He, along with Tokuriki, Tobei and Tasaburo formed the Koryokusha publishing company in an effort to break free of the major publishing companies. This print was part of a six-print series called, "Scenes of Shiga, Nara and Kyoto," which dates to the 1950s. It comes matted and framed in a blond midcentury bamboo frame. Condition: Print is in excellent condition. Frame is in very good condition with minor wear. Measurements: Print measures approximately 11 inches wide x 8.25 inches high. Frame measures approximately 14.75 inches wide x 11.75 inches high.
