Description
27” x 18.5” framed. Very cool expressionist “Vase” oil on canvas painted in 1964 by Han Kisuk (Robert Han), also known as Nong, a listed Korean-American artist who had a San Francisco gallery for many years. Han is a painter and sculptor. The built up layers and tactile quality in this painting is remarkable. The craquelure on the surface while perhaps age related seems intentional. Indeed the network of gold colored web of lines is reminiscent of the Japanese Kintsugi method of repairing ceramics traditionally with lacquer and gold. See closeup photos. Signed “Nong” lower right, also signed and dated “Nong 1964” on canvas on verso.
