Description
The time has come to sell my baby. Up for sale is my 1997 VW Golf K2 , 5 Speed. She’s a 2.0L ABA with the 5 speed manual. I’ve owned this car for the last 2 years, and I’ve had no plans to sell her, but things happen and I have to :( Took me awhile to find this spec in particular. It’s a K2 edition, 5 speed manual, 5 door golf. I know the 5 door isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I love the practicality of if. I bought this car that had been sitting for 10 years. The PO who I bought from did some work (he put a new fuel pump, battery and alternator), and I have been changing everything I can Maintenance done: New clutch kit (clutch, fly wheel) New timing belt kit (timing belt, water pump, tensioners) New spark plugs, distributor rotor, cap, wires New ignition coil New coolant reservoir and cap New front disk rotor and pads, new rear drums New coolant flange, radiator fan switch New rear main seal Probably missing a few more things Interior: Aftermarket bluetooth radio Aftermarket alarm system (which I hate lol) Interior is in FANTASTIC condition. It is probably one of the best things. K2 Seats have no rips, tears, or bolster wear which is ALWAYS common in MK3. They are dirty and need a wash, but are absolutely amazing condition. They are also heated and working! OEM early model Euro switch with fog light function (this car has OEM fog lights) It has a 3.5 Cabrio cluster with blue back light ( has been swapped and shows 200k. You f you know MK3s, clusters ALWAYS fail!) Cabrio 3.5 shift knob (round style like the MK4) Power locks, mirrors, and manual windows (the best on MK3s) OEM TT aluminum pedals yes A working glove box handle! OEM cargo/privacy cover in fantastic shape! Exterior: Body color mirror caps OEM Dual Chamber headlights with Lucid harness OEM fog lights (missing lens, like every MK3) Rear wiper delete (wasn’t working anyways) and looks better too! OEM texture moldings all in fantastic shape and present! (These things always fall off) OEM GTI/Cabrio smoked taillights (have stock ones too, will include) It the Golf being a 27 year old car, it comes with a few Cons: It’s not a perfect condition car. It’s got your DD and LA marks (unfortunately) but body is very straight with no major damage If you know MK3s, then you know these heater cores will ALWAYS fail and are a PAIN to switch. Heater core went out and it’s been bypass so the coolant doesn’t spill everywhere. So naturally, no AC or heat. Heated seats though! Cluster has been swapped from a 3.5 Cabrio. Again, another MK3 quirk. These clusters ALWAYS go out. Speedometer and gas gauges always go out. So it was swapped from a 3.5 Cabrio. Mileage shows 200k. Truthfully, I don’t know the exact mileage of the MK3, but runs like a champ with all the maintenance I’ve done! There is something wrong with with suspension, probably a bad tie rod. I haven’t checked on it honestly, and because of that, the steering wheel is crooked. It has 2 MK1 GTI Snowflakes in the front, cause LA potholes suck. Rear has MK3 steelies with hub caps. I’ve been looking for a complete set of Snowflakes and nothing :( Has a check engine light for the Catalytic converters. It also has no exhaust and is it rusted out (no idea how this happened) so it’s loud. But that’s the only reason why the check engine light is on. She’s a daily driver for sure. I’ve been driving her for the last two years. I’m very honest and transparent with everything I’ve done, and the things it needs as well as it’s cons and quirks. It’s a fun car to drive, and MK3s are only getting harder to find, especially ones that are stock and not beat up. I absolutely love this car, it took me such a long time to find this, but I need to what I got to do. Asking $3,200 or best offer. Please reach out to me if you have any questions. Thank you!
