Talos vase . Attic red-figure crater illustrating the death of Talos, the bronze giant that, according to Greek mythology, protected the island of Crete (5th century BC). Side A: The bronze giant Talos of Crete is slain by the witch Medea (far left) and the Dioscuri during the voyage of the Argonauts. The twins are mounted on horses and grasp the giant by the arms. The gods Poseidon and Amphitrite (upper right hand corner) witness the scene. Side B: The Argonauts and goddesses Athena and Hera.
