Description

'Unio Mystica' by Johfra Bosschart, 1973 There seems to be a lot of symbolism going on. On the left side you have a statue of Hermes, the messenger of the God and on the right you have Aprhodite, goddess of love. It appears that on the left hand side it looks more bleak, with ruins and ominous clouds. Not to mention the dude in the chariot. There's also some mermaids(?). Then on the right side it looks more lively, with grass, trees, and a water fall. In the middle it looks like these two are coming together towards the light/god/source. It has multiple occult symbols such as the yin yang and the eye of horus. I can't pinpoint every single detail but I love how much is going on in the painting.
