Description

If you own an RV/camper, you need to pay attention to its water heater’s sacrificial anode, which doubles as the tank’s drain plug. The anode rod protects your water heater from corrosion by sacrificing itself. In other words, it corrodes so your tank doesn’t. The problem is, many RV owners don’t realize they should be monitoring the anode rod, until it’s too late and their tank prematurely fails. How often your water heater’s anode should be replaced depends on usage and water hardness. Seasonals and frequent campers will need to replace more often, as will folks who spend a lot of time at campgrounds with higher mineral content in its city water hookups (aka “hard water”). Remember, that little blue filter is just that. It is not a water softener. Don’t learn the lesson the hard way. Check your anode before your next camping trip - you might be surprised! When it looks like the third anode down in the 5th picture, it’s time to start thinking about replacement. I am selling 2-packs of these RV sacrificial anode rods (trust me, this is one of those items you’ll want to keep a spare of), and each pack includes a roll of PTFE thread seal tape to assure a drip-free connection. If you’re not experienced using this kind of tape, I highly recommend watching a YouTube video first. It’s not difficult, but there is a right way and a wrong way to wrap the threads. All anodes ship from New Jersey, from a family-owned small business. My 6-year old daughter packages and labels the anodes. We are avid campers ourselves, and have towed as far north as Lake George and as far south as Ocean City, MD. This year we upgraded to a new-to-us 25’ travel trailer. All proceeds go toward our family’s camping adventures! Fits as Suburban (compare to PN 233514) and Mor-Flo brand water heaters. Dimensions: 9.25” L x 3/4” NPT Material: Magnesium Tools Needed: socket wrench, 1-1/16” socket, and extension
