Description

For sale is my recently purchased 1999 Mercedes-Benz S-Class S420 (badged as an S500). The vehicle has a clean title — no salvage, no rebuild — and a California title under my name. The odometer is accurate. The Carfax reports an accident in 2015, but notes the vehicle was not damaged. If you're a fan of the W140 body, you know how difficult it is to find a clean one, especially in white. I looked for a very long time, and as much as I don’t want to sell this car, I have my personal reasons for having to. A ton of money has been put into this car, as you can see from the updated S600 grille, upgraded steering wheel, AMG wheels, and more. The iconic W140 chassis is fully loaded and delivers the unmistakable luxury, power, and road presence the S-Class is known for. It’s powered by a smooth and strong 4.2L V8 engine with rear-wheel drive, offering excellent handling and a solid, confident ride whether you’re commuting in the city or cruising on the highway. The exterior is finished in classic white, and the interior features well-kept leather upholstery, a moonroof, and all the comfort features expected from a flagship Mercedes. It comes equipped with Bose premium sound, alloy wheels, dual power seats, ABS (4-wheel), slip control, dual and side airbags, cruise control, power windows, power locks, power steering, and an AM/FM stereo with cassette. If you know the W140, you know these cars are built to last and deliver a driving experience that’s hard to match. This one is clean, well-optioned, and ready for its next owner. Mechanically, the vehicle is flawless. I recently drove it from San Diego to Los Angeles, and from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, without any hiccups whatsoever. I replaced the rear springs, completed an oil change, and had all fluids and safety items inspected. I hate the online back-and-forth, so I want to keep everything very transparent. Although the vehicle is in excellent condition, it is almost 26 years old and does need some work. I’ve listed everything below so we don’t waste each other’s time. EXTERIOR: Paint is in good condition but could use a polish. Both lower side skirts have some “cover-up spray” applied. The antenna is permanently lowered. The soft-close doors work; however, the power door locks do not open with the fob—you’ll need to manually lock/unlock the doors. The key fob works only for the driver’s door. Tires are in great shape with plenty of life left. INTERIOR: Driver’s seat has some wear and could benefit from reupholstering and refinishing. The driver’s door panel needs to be refitted. The steering wheel has a small crack that is currently covered. The SRS light is on because when the updated wooden steering wheel was installed, the wiring was done incorrectly—any good mechanic can fix this. All windows and the moonroof operate properly. The rear third brake light (below the rear windshield) needs replacement. MECHANICAL: Engine and transmission are in immaculate condition. No slipping in the transmission and no clicks or clunks from the engine. Brakes still have life left. Rear shocks/springs were replaced on 11/02/2025. Smog check passed with flying colors on 10/18/2025. I am open to reasonable offers. I’m not in a rush to sell, but I will consider offers that make sense. Please, no dealers, wholesalers, or third-party BS companies. I will ignore all texts/calls/emails from them. Serious buyers only if you’d like to schedule a viewing. Cash only as the form of payment. No tire kickers or lowballers. Thank you!
