Description
This is a mid-century piece manufactured by Rousseau Bros. In Gardner, MA. I found that this company was started by a father and 4 brothers in “chair city” USA. The company no longer exists. The chair is a platform or spring rocker, patented in the late 1800s. Meaning, it rocks while the legs stay in place. For its age it is actually quite comfortable and nice to spring back and forth in. As for the condition, it is good aside from some sun bleaching of the red upholstery on the back of the chair, and some wear on the black paint of the main frame. Otherwise, the bones are very sturdy. The chair was intended as a club chair. It was used in our RV for a long time after my grandma purchased it from an antique shop.
