Description
Selling my late mom’s car. She passed away last August, and I’ve been holding onto it, but it’s time to let it go. I bought this car for her about 10 years ago, and she did her best to take care of it. Current condition: The car won’t start. There’s no power to the steering wheel area, no clicking sound, nothing when turning the key. It has been sitting since last August, but we’ve done the following work on it: Replaced the starter Replaced the battery cable Replaced the spark plugs with high-quality ones Replaced the ignition switch and ignition (note: the new ignition did not include key cylinders, keys, or fob) Put on new tires from Les Schwab (warranty is transferable) Front end work also done at Les Schwab Replaced all the fuses (not the relays) Replaced the safety switch Had the alternator tested – it’s good Battery was stolen, so you will need to get a new one Known issues: The original problem started when my mom had issues with the key fob and the gear shifter not going all the way into park. She bought a new fob and had some keys made at a local auto parts store. After that, the car stopped sending power to the ignition. The new ignition switch doesn’t come with a matched key/fob or cylinder, so it will need a proper set from a donor car. Once that’s installed and programmed, it should work. Common HHR issue: there was a water leak under the windshield wipers due to a gasket. We removed all the carpet, cleaned everything, and reinstalled the leather seats. The leak is now fixed. Overall: Interior is clean Body is in great shape Tires and front end are practically new These cars typically sell for $4,000 or more in good condition Why I’m selling: I was my mom’s caregiver for about 10 years. This car has a lot of emotional meaning, and I just can’t look at it anymore. I’m asking $600, which I’ll use as a down payment on a 4x4 Dodge truck. If you’re a mechanic or know someone who is, this could be an easy fix and a great deal. Serious inquiries only. Title in hand. No trades.
