Traditionally, commuter bicycles have been modified road set-ups that are adequate for a long haul, or stripped back mountain bikes that are durable for bad weather, or uncomfortable single speeds with add-ons to take the abuse of daily commuting. With the Continuum Onyx, we sought to make an all-inclusive, highly functional commuter bicycle for both the workweek grind and weekend touring fun. From the intuitive Enviolo CVT and Gates Carbon Drive, to included lights and fenders, daily riding is a joy. We put all the thoughtful bells and whistles for year-round riding into one awesome package. The Enviolo CVT hub is intuitive and sealed for all conditions. The Gates Carbon Drive belt doesn’t rust. We included hub-powered lights, composite fenders, reflective sidewall tires, disc brakes, and packaged it up into a form-friendly geometry. What else could you ask for? Maybe a commuter rain jacket that doesn’t make you sweat? Wheels and seats are some of the most expensive components on your bicycle. The Continuum Onyx with the X Lock System prevents them from going missing! The new X Lock System by Seatylock features locking axle nuts to prevent your wheels from being stolen, and a locking seat post clamp to ensure your seat post and saddle remain secure. We’ve all dealt with jammed cassettes, ineffective shifting, and multiple tune-ups. The Enviolo CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) has no pre-defined gears, and with the equivalent of a traditional 21-speed bicycle, you can feather the twist grip shifter to the perfect resistance for climbing hills or flat paths. Most commuter bicycles are Frankenbikes in many ways. We wanted to make key features all standard so you can get riding without a lot of hacking together mismatched parts like ill-fitting fenders or lights that somehow are never charged when you need them most. The combination of the Enviolo CVT, Gates Carbon Drive, and disc brakes lower your maintenance interval far beyond any other bicycle on the road. The Enviolo CVT is sealed and holds up in below freezing temps; the Gates Carbon Drive belt requires no lube and minimal maintenance; and hydraulic disc brakes deliver all-season stopping power. We recommend sizing based on your leg inseam. The quickest way to properly determine your inseam, is to measure from the top of your crotch to the ground with your shoes off.
