Description
The vintage "Sally Bassett" tabletop brass bell (often referred to as a lady bell) was made in Bermuda. These novelty dinner bells were produced by the Tucker sisters in the early 20th century and were sold at their famous tearoom, the Little Green Door in the capital of Hamilton. The bells are highly recognizable because they feature the image of an old Black woman with a bell forming her skirt. She was named after Sarah "Sally" Bassett, an enslaved Bermudian woman who was executed by the British in 1730. She has the English registry mark on her side, shown in photo 4 inches tall, weighs 15 oz
