Description

Beautiful antique Kuchi/Afghan tribal pendant, made of an aged metal alloy (potentially brass or a mixed "silver metal") and featuring colorful faux stones or glass inlays.  Description * Style: The pendant is an example of traditional ethnic or tribal jewelry from Central Asia, often associated with the Kuchi or Turkmen nomadic peoples. * Materials: It is made of a base metal which has developed a rich patina over time and is adorned with red, green, and clear/white glass or acrylic gems. * Design: The large, flat pendant features intricate repoussé metalwork and ornamental cutouts. Chains with distinctive, leaf-shaped dangle elements, sometimes referred to as "spoons" or bells, hang from the bottom. * Function: While sometimes described as a necklace pendant, similar large ornaments from this region were also traditionally worn as part of elaborate headpieces, belts, or as a dagdan (a type of pectoral amulet). The "spoons" can also be decorative representations of traditional ear picks or powder scoops.
