For sale is an awesome 1999-s Susan B. Anthony Proof Dollar in the original Mint Packaging. The SBA Dollar was minted 1979 to 1981 and was not a popular coin when it was released at all. Americans never took to wanting to use coins as dollar currency, and then people confused them with quarters due to their size so a tiny quantity was ever ordered by banks, and even less were purchased by collectors which led the mint to destroy the huge overstock that they had. So that makes the SBA's becoming rare because only a fraction of the coins minted for circulation ever survived. They again minted them in 1999 basically as a way to ensure that Dollar coins were minted and available in case a snag occurred with the upcoming Sacagawea Dollars in 2000, which of course there weren't. That year they decided to also Mint a proof coin for collectors, and it is actually considered a rare key date because they minted just a tiny 750,000 coins, but because they were not a big seller the Treasury actually destroyed a great deal of them, but they don't know exactly how many, but it is believed that a very small number survived, which is why the 1999 Proof is a higher value coin. You cannot get this coin in the 1999 Proof Set. The coin comes in in its original box from the Mint with certificate of authenticity. As you can see from the pics the coin is in amazing shape with all that gorgeous mirror-image finish with frosty raised reliefs you expect from high quality proof coins.
