The Mountain Lake Sanctuary and Singing Tower in Lake Wales, Florida, now known as Bok Tower Gardens, is a historic site established in the 1920s by Edward W. Bok, a Pulitzer Prize-winning editor. The sanctuary, situated atop Iron Mountain—the highest point in peninsular Florida—was designed as a tranquil retreat to inspire visitors through its natural beauty and serene atmosphere. At the heart of the sanctuary stands the 205-foot-tall Singing Tower, a Gothic Revival structure that houses a 60-bell carillon. Completed in 1929, the tower was dedicated by President Calvin Coolidge and has become an iconic symbol of Florida's cultural heritage. The surrounding gardens, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., feature a diverse collection of plants and provide a habitat for various bird species, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts and a testament to early 20th-century American landscape architecture.
