Antique 1913 Rook Playing Cards

Description

My pa gave me this fancy box of rook cards. I never played them because I got a weird vibe from em. But don't let that stop ya! They are a museum-grade "time capsule" find. 100% Complete-in-Box 1913 Dixie-Rook Edition card game. This isn't your standard modern set; this is a century-old survivor from The Rook Card Co. Salem, Massachusetts. The Cards: Incredible "snap" to the card stock. These haven't been softened by moisture or heavy play. All 56 cards + the Rook Bird card are present and crisp. The Box: Exceptional for being 113 years old. The red linen-style finish is vibrant, and the gold "Dixie-Rook" lettering is sharp with minimal fading. The Papers: Includes the original 1913 Instruction Booklet and the rare Original Registration/Rules Slips (Pollyanna/New Rook Solitaire). Finding these papers intact is what separates a common set from a true collector's piece. For century old cards, they've held up pretty well!
