Description

THE END OF THE DAY ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAVURE JULES BRETON 1800S THE ORIGINAL PAINTING, THE END OF THE DAY, BY JULES BRETON WAS PAINTED IN THE 1880S AND EXHIBITED IN THE PARIS SALON. SHORTLY AFTER, THIS PHOTOGRAVURE WAS PRODUCED. THIS ORIGINAL 19TH CENTURY PHOTOGRAVURE REPRODUCES BRETON’S EVOCATIVE RURAL SCENE, DEPICTING PEASANTS RETURNING HOME AT DUSK AFTER A DAY OF LABOR. THE DIMENSIONS ARE 11 5/8” X 17”. I FOUND THIS ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAVURE IN AN OLD ATTIC IN THE LATE 1970S. THIS HOME WAS BUILT IN THE 1700S IN CONNECTICUT. THIS WAS IN A SECTION OF THE ATTIC THAT HADN'T BEEN EXPLORED IN YEARS. VERY GOOD FOR ITS AGE. THERE ARE IMPERFECTIONS LIKE SPOTTING, TWO RIPS ON THE RIGHT AND MIDDLE OF THE BORDER WITH A CREASE ON THE CORNER (WHEN FRAMED, THIS WOULD NOT BE SEEN). THE ACTUAL PHOTOGRAVURE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THIS WOULD LOOK ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL WHEN FRAMED. 25
