Up for sale is a premium, beautifully handcrafted 3-string license plate resonator guitar built by the highly regarded artisan workshop, Saner Cigar Box Guitars. Unlike standard cigar box builds, this instrument features Saner’s custom-engineered "Mudbox" chassis—a solid, scratch-built hardwood body designed specifically to optimize acoustic resonance and handle heavy string tension. The centerpiece of this guitar is an authentic, vintage October 1974 license plate from Grenada, Mississippi (the undisputed birthplace of the Blues), giving it an incredible look and a loud, metallic acoustic snap. Premium Upgrades & Features: Fully Fretted Neck: Expertly leveled and crowned metal frets. This allows for standard chord shapes, clean fingerpicking, and traditional play, while still acting as an absolute monster for slide playing. Chrome Mini-Humbucker Pickup: Features an adjustable pole-piece chrome mini-humbucker mounted right over the license plate. This delivers a warm, fat, feedback-resistant tone perfect for driving a tube amp into gritty blues crunch. Dual Pickup Wiring Harness: Equipped with both the external magnetic mini-humbucker and an internal acoustic piezo pickup disc glued directly to the resonator plate. 3-Way Toggle Switch: Offers maximum sonic versatility. Position 1 activates the humbucker for electric crunch; Position 2 blends both pickups for a hybrid tone; Position 3 isolates the piezo for a raw acoustic porch-blues twang. Folk Art Appointments: Features an authentic Corona bottle cap volume control knob, a threaded bolt bridge for perfect string spacing, and high-quality vintage-style tuners. Electronics Note for Players: Like most passive dual-pickup folk instruments, the output naturally varies by position. Position 1 (Humbucker) provides the strongest, highest-output electric signal. Positions 2 and 3 involve the passive acoustic piezo disc and are inherently quieter, delivering a lighter, highly microphonic delta tone that sounds incredible through an acoustic preamp or dialed-in tube amplifier. Condition & Playability: The guitar is structurally rock-solid, straight-necked, and plays with comfortable action across all three strings. It is currently tuned to Open G (G-D-G), delivering that classic Delta growl right out of the box. Cosmetically, it looks fantastic with a beautiful natural wood grain, and the license plate carries the perfect amount of genuine vintage patina.
