This is a hand-tinted photograph titled A Colonial Dame by the American photographer and furniture maker Wallace Nutting. Wallace Nutting was a leading figure in the Colonial Revival movement of the early 20th century, known for his idealized images of "Olde New England". His photographs often featured women in colonial dress posed in period-correct interiors, which were sometimes staged in his own historic house museums.
