Description
This is a beautiful large Steuben Blue Aurene "Squat" Art Glass Bowl, designed by Frederick Carder during the early 20th century (circa 1910s–1920s). The vivid metallic cobalt/teal iridescence is highly collectible. Visual Features Shape: A classic low, bulbous, or "squat" rose bowl form featuring a wide, rounded shoulder that elegantly tapers inward to an unadorned, circular rim. Color and Finish: Crafted from heavy lead crystal and finished with a striking Blue Aurene iridescent surface. The finish displays a rich, velvety gradient of deep cobalt blue, peacock teal, and subtle metallic green highlights that shift in color depending on how the light catches it. Markings: The underside is hand-engraved with the authentic script signature "STEUBEN AURENE." This piece perfectly embodies the Art Nouveau style and the innovative glassmaking techniques that made Steuben one of the premier American art glass studios of its era. The item is in great condition for its age and does not have chips or cracks. The bottom has been protected by white felt pads shown in the pictures.
