Description
It is inspired by a fresco by Annibale Carracci in the Farnese Gallery of the Palazzo Farnese in Rome. * The scene shows Bacchus, the god of wine, offering Ariadne a crown of stars as a wedding gift. * Ariadne, daughter of King Minos, helped Theseus kill the Minotaur. * Theseus abandoned Ariadne on the island of Naxos, where Bacchus found her. The vase is a vintage and a Rare piece, possibly dating back to the mid-20th century or maybe older. Not sure how old it’s but definitely it looks old! * vase is described as "Montanari Farnesiana" and most likely have been produced in Parma, Italy. * The scene on the vase is a depiction of the fresco painted in 1597. This vase is truly a masterpiece and hand painted and handmade.
