I purchased a vehicle from Texas Auto Spot in September 2024, and it quickly became the worst car-buying experience of my life. I was lied to, misled, disrespected, and ultimately scammed — all within the first week of ownership.
Here’s exactly what happened, in full detail:
I originally came to buy a Jeep that was advertised, but was told I couldn’t get it because it was “bank financed.”
They then took me to a separate, hidden lot (not the official one they show online) that looked more like a junkyard than a dealership. Despite the sketchy setup, I needed a car urgently and agreed to purchase another vehicle from that back lot.
I put down a $1,000 deposit, and they gave me a Corolla to drive temporarily for two weeks, saying they needed to clean the vehicle and make repairs. None of the promised work was done. The car was still filthy, missing hubcaps, and had visible brake issues. The contract I signed listed the vehicle with 95,000 miles, but when I checked the actual car, it had 115,000 miles — a 20,000-mile difference. This was a blatant case of contract fraud. I have documentation to prove this.
When I came to pick up the car after paying an additional $500, I was told to arrive by 6:30 PM (they close at 7), but wasn’t allowed to leave until after 9 PM. During this time, the manager Eddie and another male employee (bald, light eyes) began asking inappropriate questions about my love life and making comments like, “Are you gonna be a good girl and make your payments?”
It felt threatening, unprofessional, and extremely uncomfortable. THE CAR BROKE DOWN AFTER 2 DAYS. That night I got the car, I had to take a family trip and drove 3.5 hours before the car started losing power and wouldn’t accelerate properly. On the return trip, the car died on the highway despite showing a full tank of gas — twice.
I had to be towed at midnight with my two children in the car.
The next morning, oil was leaking all over my driveway, and the engine oil was completely black.
I immediately reported the issues and asked for a refund. Eddie said he would inspect the vehicle and only refund me if I hadn’t damaged it. Two days later, he confirmed there was no damage, but still refused to return my money.
I insisted I no longer wanted the car and was told I had to wait again for repairs. When I declined, I was ignored, hung up on, and gaslighted. I eventually had to go up there and involve the police just to speak to someone. Eddie promised to give me the original Jeep I wanted, then said he’d give me a Hyundai Elantra instead — then changed his story again. Finally, he said I could have the Jeep — but only if I signed an arbitration agreement stating I wouldn’t sue. The agreement said I could “opt out within 10 days.” I told him I wanted to opt out right then, but he said if I didn’t sign, I couldn’t have the vehicle. This is clear coercion and manipulation, and I have video footage of the entire conversation. The Jeep they finally gave me had a misfire in the engine. I had to pay $200 out of pocket to repair it within the first week. I didn’t trust them to touch it again, so I fixed it myself.
My first car payment wasn’t even due yet (scheduled for Monday). I told them I’d be paid Wednesday.That Monday night, two tow trucks showed up at my house, attempting to repossess the car.I was in the car, and they still tried to hook it up. My boyfriend and I called the police and had to physically intervene.When I called Eddie, he said he sent the tow because I “never texted back” to confirm I’d be paying — even though my contract clearly said I had 15 days. It been TWO! He then sarcastically said, “Since you like calling the police, call them to get your car back.”I have:
All paperwork, video footage, and contracts
Surveillance footage from my home security system Proof of mileage discrepancy and repair costs
Legal documentation being prepared by my attorney
We are currently pursuing legal action. I have also contacted relevant consumer protection agencies and ICE due to illegal business activity and use of undocumented workers on-site.

Omar was very helpful. I came for a particulat vehicle that I spoke to hin on the phone the day before about and he gave me options, but I still left with the vehicle I came for. This was the first time ever purchasing a vehicle where I came with an expectation on price and vehicle and left with what I was told it would be. Thanks Omar.😍 Highly recommend.

Other car places were charging me $5000+ for a down payment they hooked me up with $2000 the lowest offer i got and i was able to trade in my vehicle for a good price

The Owner, Eddie and the sales manager, Omar got me into a car the same day I came. It was a easy and quick transaction. They are the best car lot I've ever been to. They really care about their customers.

Very unprofessional. They showed me a completely different car than what was advertised. The staff member came out in flip flops and spoke no English so he communicated in grunts and broken English.
