Description

This is a beautiful antique lithograph by Jan Korthals depicting the Grand Canal in Venice. The details are intricate and it looks like a real watercolor painting. The gold frame is ready to hang and has a fun twisted border. There is a tiny glass break in the bottom right corner that does not detract from the piece. The last picture shows a similar ebay listing for over $100 with shipping. Frame measurements Height: 21’’ Width: 14’’ Depth: 1’’ Venmo or cash please Please check out my other listings More info on the artist: Jan Korthals was a Dutch painter whose work was characterized by its Impressionistic rendering and focus on the landscape of Amsterdam. Often depicting on the city's iconic waterways, Korthals’ style features atmospheric perspective with boats and figures in the foreground framing the misty architecture in the distance, loosely rendered with warm ochre hues. Born in 1916 in the Netherlands, Korthals completed his artistic education at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and went on to travel extensively throughout Europe. He achieved widespread commercial success for his work, contributing frequently to greeting card and calendar illustrations. Korthals died in 1972.
