Description

A matched set of a Victorian couple out for a ride on their matching high wheel bicycles. Extra bonus; they are planters! The high wheels, with one tall front wheel and one small rear wheel were commonly called Penny Farthings and popular in the late 1800's. They were also sometimes referred to as "ordinary bicycles". The name "Penny-farthing" was derived from the British penny and farthing coins, the penny being the larger wheel and the farthing the smaller rear wheel. The planters are approx 7' tall x 4' wide. Both planters have remnants of their original labels on the bottom marked "Made in Japan". Totally cute! The Napco planters are in extremely good condition with use/wear marks on the bottom.
