Description

Offered here is a beautifully presented 1966 Ford Mustang Sprint 200 Convertible, under 65000 original miles. A rare and highly desirable factory special edition from Ford’s celebrated “Millionth Mustang Success Sale.” Finished in striking original Ford Apple Red (original color was Embargo and was professionally repainted in late sixties by original owner - a former employee at Ford San Jose) and equipped with the dependable C-4 automatic transmission, this car captures the elegance, charm, and originality that make mid-century Mustangs so enduringly collectible. The Sprint 200 was introduced as a stylish, well-appointed package for the 200-cubic-inch inline-six, blending tasteful trim with easy drivability and distinctive factory character. Authentic Sprint features include the chrome air cleaner with the special “Mustang Powered Sprint 200” decal, full-length console with courtesy lighting, deluxe wire wheel covers, and quarter trim delete for a cleaner, more refined appearance. Rare (Fastback & Convertible): While available in all three body styles, very few Fastbacks were ever produced with the Sprint package, and Convertibles were only offered for a few months starting in March 1966. As a convertible, this example benefits from one of the rarest body styles offered in the Sprint 200 line, adding additional collector appeal and open-air enjoyment. The package is especially notable in original form, as many surviving examples have been modified over the years, making well-preserved Sprint cars increasingly difficult to find. This is a Mustang that delivers far more than simple transportation. It offers period-correct style, understated exclusivity, and the kind of factory detail that serious enthusiasts appreciate, all wrapped in one of the most iconic silhouettes ever produced by Ford Clean California car, no signs of previous rust or coliseum damage. Very straight. I bought the car in 2007 and I’m the third owner.
