Description

Suggs Pottery 6 gallon Stoneware Butter Churn. Antique crock with a Beautiful blue stripe and glaze. (Made prior to 1950s) WD Suggs Pottery was located in Smithville, Mississippi in the early 1900s through 1956 and hand made pottery items. This butter churn was collected by my grandmother, who gave it to my father, and was used as decor. My grandmother had a large collection of crocks and this is one item that we are selling as my parents are downsizing a bit in retirement. She collected from all over Virginia, North Carolina, & Tennessee. The butter churn has the original lid, but the dasher is not original. The Crock has no cracks or chips, there aren’t some quaint imperfections due to age and when it was made. The lid does have some chips, but you can tell they happened a long time ago and have aged well as it is at least 70+ years old- if not older! I have not cleaned it, so pics show a little dust. The stoneware is a 3 gallon and approximately 13 1/2 inches tall. Approximately 9 inches at the base. Approximately 9 at the top of the rim. Approximately 7 1/2 opening of the churn. Approximately 31 around the outside of the churn at the largest point without the handle. Handle is the original handle. There are several interesting articles online about pottery company. Pickup in Chesapeake, Virginia off Indian River Road/Providence Road.
