Description

1978 Prindle 16 • No hull oxidation – nice shiny hulls, no soft spots in the hulls. Does not take on water. • 2 good mainsails, 1 jib. • Good SLOSC trampoline – no tears/rips. • Mainsheet with Harken 6:1 blocks. • Standing rigging (main halyard, jib halyard, jib block wires, bridles, forestay, shrouds, trap wires) all replaced last year, some running rigging replaced as well. • Good rudders – no damage • Aluminum extendable tiller handle • Recently painted trailer with new galvanized wheels, new tires, new wheel bearings, new lights, hand winch. Rear folding/removeable mast stand reinforced with new welded crossmember. • Restored sailbox. • Current registration and title on both boat and trailer (good until 2025 with mussel sticker). This boat is the older style Prindle, with a forestay setup similar to that of the Hobie 16. It weighs approximately 325 pounds, and is easy to single-hand and get off the trailer/back on the trailer. Easily trailerable. Why should I buy this boat? It’s ready to go sailing today – there is absolutely nothing else needed. This is a fast and fun boat that is less expensive than most older Hobie 16s you’ll find. Older Prindles surface from time to time, and to take a neglected boat and restore it to sailable condition can easily take over $1000 (and usually does - ask me how I know), lots of time and physical effort, and lots of DMV hassles if you buy a boat that’s fallen off their records. All of that work is done here – two simple title transfers and you’re ready to go sailing. I have a new rescue boat (couldn’t help myself) that I am working on while I recover from shoulder surgery, and I can’t keep both. I’m not looking to profit from this boat, just looking to recoup some of what I put into it so I can get back to sailing. I am happy to show the buyer how to rig the boat, and would be willing to show the buyer how to launch it and the basics of sailing it if needed.
