Details: Despite the near identical internals to the older 401a, the Rocketeer is significant in Singer's development because it represents the last of the 'all metal' machines manufactured by Singer. This marked a turning point in Singer's build quality as subsequent models employed a variety of cost cutting measures, including the introduction of plastic gears, in an effort to compete with the influx of Japanese clones. The "Rocketeer", is often considered the last of the 'greats.' Solidly built with a lightweight aluminum chassis Uses a low amperage, gear driven motor. Clean little vintage machine that runs strong. Not perfect, of course, because it is getting older these days, but nice. The case is not as clean as the machine itself, having scratches, discoloration and some cracks, however, it is solid.
