Description
Vintage Patriotic WWII Memorabilia Pin Lot. Included are 5 pins. Two Wallace pins and a McGovern for President 72. George Wallace and George McGovern were both in the 1972 Democratic presidential primaries. Wallace was running strongly in several Southern states until May 1972, when he was the victim of an assassination attempt that left him paralyzed. That effectively ended his campaign. McGovern went on to win the Democratic nomination in 1972. So Wallace and McGovern were technically opponents during the primaries, but Wallace never faced McGovern in the general election. In November 1972, McGovern ran against Richard Nixon, who won in a landslide. The bottom pin on the left is a union dues pin badge from January 1944, issued to members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Chauffeurs, Warehousemen & Helpers of America (IBT), which was affiliated at the time with the American Federation of Labor (A.F. of L.). And the last small pin is a A patriotic World War I or II-era pinback distributed by David C. Cook Publishing — possibly for schoolchildren, church groups, or community morale drives. Smoke free home and next day shipping. Located in West Kendall in the Hammocks.
