Description
J.B. Player began as a build-to-order division of Mighty Mite in 1981. After MM went bankrupt, the brand was bought out by Westheimer Music Corp and production was moved to South Korea. The nationwide relaunch occurred in 1985 with five neck-through guitar models and two bolt-neck basses with hex bolt action adjustment (like on 70s Fenders). This is an early mass production specimen, most likely from 1985-86 based on documents I have on this brand. The Fender headstock only lasted for a year or two of full-scale production before they were forced to change them. The setup leaves something to be desired but it's easy enough to play. Volume knob is not original. Pots are scratchy but nothing some DeOxit can't fix. Nut appears to have broken and been "repaired" with hot glue (happened long before I owned it). Has its fair share of dings and scratches. Overall, it is An Bass. I was originally going to use it as a modding platform, but I never got around to it and it's just been collecting dust. Perhaps you can take up the mantle...? Asking $150. I accept cash, Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal.
