As the LTD shared underpinnings with the Ford Mustang, all of the pretty pony’s (and some of the resurgent Thunderbird’s) performance bits were literal drop-ins from the factory: a four-link, coil-spring rear suspension, bigger 10-inch rear drum brakes were taken from the wagon, a quick 15:1 ratio for the rack-and-pinion steering, fatter anti-roll bars were bolted on front and rear with a posi rear end.
