Description
I am proud to present to you this one-of-a-kind sword, a kukri. The kukri is the national symbol of the legendary warriors, the Gurkhas, who fought valiantly in the British army and the Indian army during World War I. Legend has it, for instance, that at one point one Gurkha single-handedly killed 50 Japanese soldiers. You can look this up. I cannot be certain that this is a kukri, because I have never seen another like it. Nor would you. There simply isn’t one like it. Yet it is shaped like a kukri, and has all the traditional features of a kukri, with the exception of the gigantic size. The structure, the design, and the curvature (of the blade) all suggest that this cannot be but a kukri. Only, it is, quite simply, massive! In this sense, it’s nothing like the conventional kukri. About This Item Kukris typically measures 10 to 15 inches in length. This one is 35 inches, 3 times longer. Kukris are traditionally “knives,” but this one is a full-fletched “sword.” There are many kukris on the market, of course, but you will not find another one like this. Amazing Features Outstanding handle (though a bit small in proportion to the massive blade) made of buffalo horn. Original leather scabbard. Embossed ornaments on the blade (on one side only) Silver lion’s head pommel. One-of-a-kind. Full tang. Silver wraps on the hilt. 2 utility knives. The bads Leather fraying at the upper end of the scabbard. Heavy rust on the blade at the hilt area. Scattered rust on parts of the blade. Heavy rust on the utility knives. Leather on the back side of the scabbard at the top end could use a gentle stitching to firm up the tie. If I have forgotten anything, and you see it in the pictures, please let me know or ask questions. I am not an expert sword collector, just a hobbyist. Blade Blade is single-edged, and is very sharp - even though I have never sharpened it. The fact that it is so sharp is all the more stunning considering how hefty the blade is. Measurements (not digital) 37in tip-to-tip sword in scabbard 35in tip-to-top sword without scabbard 6in sword hilt/handle 29.5in length of blade without the hilt 3in widest point of blade 1.75in narrowest point of blade 0.25in thickest segment (spine) of the blade 6.25in length of utility knives (x2) This is one badass. My best friend is 7-feet tall. This sword would suit him to carry it and to wield it. This is also an extremely prized item for that special collector. If you’re an expert, make me an offer (and give me your reasons for it). Thank you. More photos available on request.
