🏴‍☠️ Puerto Rican Treasure 🏴‍☠️ Pirate sea glass is extremely old, rare sea glass-typically dating from the 1700s-1800s-that appears solid black to the naked eye but reveals deep olive green, amber, or brown colors when held to light. Detail: The sea glass originating from antique rum and wine bottles, this thick, bubble-filled glass is found along historic shipping routes. Age: These pieces can be hundreds (!!!!) of years old and often feature bubbles and imperfections from being hand-blown. Distinction: They are highly prized by collectors for their link to the Golden Age of Piracy and maritime history. Origin: Often from colonial-era bottles used for transporting spirits, commonly found in the Caribbean, Bermuda etc. This piece of sea glass is naturally ocean-tumbled, imperfectly shaped by the sea & hand collected on a Puerto Rican beach. I don't shape or tumble my sea glass so each piece is as found on the beach. Genuine sea glass is naturally shaped, ocean-tumbled and hand collected. It takes decades for a piece of sharp glass to tumble in the waves, sand & rocks to become perfectly smoothe like the pieces I use. The sea glass is genuine & therefore it will have minor imperfections and a slightly irregular shape. Slight imperfections in the glass are to be expected and are proof that it is pure sea glass. The shapes of pure sea glass are formed at random by the breaking of glass and the strength of the sea as each piece is tumbled in the waves and sand.
