1986 Charvel Model 3B Bass Guitar Black Cherry MIJ

Produced in Japan from 86 - 88 during the golden era of Japanese Charvel production, the top of the line Model 3B sports neck through construction with a quartersawn maple neck capped with a thick slab rosewood fretboard and paired with poplar body wings. Thanks to the tonewood compliment, the bass offers a defined sound that never gets too muddy, yet provides plenty of low end to perform foundational duties. The PJ pairing includes P-style pickup and J-150 J-style single coil, offering a rich midrange character, aggressive cut, and a present treble register that accentuates the grind of the 45-100 roundwound strings. The active PE-2000 EQ controls provide expanded tonal flexibility with dedicated Treble and Bass knobs to boost or cut said frequencies. This Charvel weighs slightly above 9lbs, Fresh professional setup with low action, 45-100 strings, and spot-on intonation. The one-piece rock maple neck has a slender D shaped profile. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features large pearl dot inlays. The scale length is 34”, and the nut measures 1 5/8” in width. The headstock features the original set of black Jackson-branded tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold tune well. On the body, the stock electronics work as they should, with a three-way toggle selector switch, Volume, Treble, and Bass controls governing the PJ pickup pair. The black hardware includes the heavy-duty top-loader Jackson-branded bridge and trio of knurled knobs. This is an incredible bass, but keep in mind, Its used and 35 years old. The gloss Black Cherry finish is in great condition with the exception of an area of light bucklerash "Not through the color finish" on back of the body, and minor light scratches here and there. There is one small finish chip on the very top tip of the headstock as well. The cherry on top is, It includes an ultra rare premium Charvel Tweed hard case.
