Description
An extraordinary and historically significant 48-star ceremonial American flag, dating to 1912 — the year Arizona and New Mexico joined the Union. This large-format linen flag features hand-embroidered stars arranged in six rows of eight, classic hand-sewn stripes, and an elegant gold bullion fringe. It was originally made for the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) in Boston, Massachusetts, and processed to replace their previous 46-star flag following the addition of Arizona and New Mexico. The flag is professionally mounted and preserved behind protective plexiglass (chosen for its lightweight durability given the scale of the piece) within an ornate giltwood frame. The overall presentation measures approximately 78” x 58”, and the framing quality is consistent with museum or institutional display standards.
