Description

*1970 Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air III* When it comes to muscle cars, everybody talks about Chevelles and Hemi Cudas, but really, one of the most serious machines of the era was the Pontiac Trans Am. In 1970, the second generation of Pontiac’s performance car debuted with outrageous fastback styling, an aggressive front and rear fascia and the legendary Shaker hood up front. When paired with a stout 400 cubic inch V8, the Trans Am looked like nothing else on the road and had performance to match. This 1970 Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air III is a particularly unique example, having been under single family ownership since 1971 and showing a verified original 69,612 miles. The consignor’s father purchased the car from its original owner with just 6,309 miles on it, and it comes with a host of original documentation from the first owner, including hard to find items like the original warranty tag and comprehensive service receipts. Finished in Lucerne Blue with a white and black stripe, the car was treated to a frame off restoration in 2015 by Top Secret Customs and Restoration of Arlington, WA, bringing it to a fantastic standard. Although restored on the exterior to largely original, one of the few visual differences is a set of original-looking larger Year-One wheels, wrapped in modern rubber. The interior of the Trans Am is all business with a pair of bucket seats up front and two buckets in the rear. The black leather seats are complimented by black Alcantara on the full center console and arm rest which add a nice premium feel to the vehicle, and look like they could have been there from the factory. Slide behind the 3-spoke wheel and you are met by an engine-turned metal dash face with inset gauges including speed, tachometer, fuel level and engine temperature. The shifter to your right features a Hurst T-Handle shifter and an original-look radio sits in the dash just above it. Powering this Trans Am is a 400 ci Pontiac V8 built by Butler Performance. Installed during the restoration, this engine includes forged internals, an upgraded MSD distributor, 3-inch exhaust and Holley 750 cfm carburetor. From the factory, Pontiac rated the Ram Air III at 335 horsepower, which, when paired with the above modifications, is likely higher now. Power is then sent through a 4-speed Muncie M21 manual gearbox to the rear wheels. The 1970 Trans Am is a rare car to begin with, add the Ram Air III package and it gets rarer. Finding one of these unique muscle cars that has been in the care of a single family essentially since new is almost unheard of and makes this Trans Am a prime collector’s item. When you pair that with the high-quality restoration and freshened driveline, it becomes a collector’s item that you can drive and enjoy. If you are hunting for a unique muscle car for your garage, this Trans Am is the car you’re looking for. *Key Features* * Single Family Ownership Since 1971 * Purchased at 6,309 Miles * Significant Documentation * Body off Restoration in 2015 * Completed by Top Secret Customs and Restoration * Invoices Included * Pontiac 400 ci V8 * Rebuilt by Butler Performance * Holley 750 CFM Carburetor * 3-Inch Exhaust * MSD Ignition * Forged Internals * Muncie M21 4-Speed Manual Transmission * Custom Interior * Black Leather Seats * Alcantara Center Console * Year One Wheels *Additional Information* * Original Warranty Tag * Service Receipts * Restoration Receipts * Engine Invoices * Original Heads for Motor Available * Factory Service Manuals * Fisher Body Manuals * Memrobilia For more information on this 1970 Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air III or any of our 100+ high-performance sports cars always in stock, call our friendly and knowledgeable sales team or always feel free to drop by our 40,000 sq ft of Indoor Showrooms in Bellevue, WA - Home to an exciting inventory of Luxury, Exotic, Sports and Collectible Cars.
