The bin helps keep dust off the important stuff. I recommend you are a little familiar with telescopes of this nature or I suggest you not buy it. Not for kids playing around. You will get frustrated if not familiar. OR - If you want to learn and are patient, then this is the telescope for you. I have seen the moon closer than ever. It does move and you have to use the sunglass filter feature or your eye is overwhelmed with light. I bought it at $378. It's time to let someone else enjoy the stars.
