Description

Beautiful example of a fairly rare guitar. This is the OG Ibanez 7 string model, made in Japan at the famous Fujigen factory in 1999. Build quality is superb, equivalent to the “prestige” line introduced later. “Vampire Kiss” is probably the rarest color available at this point and almost never comes up on Reverb. This guitar was all over the alt metal scene when I came of age in the late 90s and it’s living a second life among collectors of pre-prestige-era Japanese Ibanez guitars. I’ve owned it for about 10 years and gigged with it just once. Otherwise I kept it at home. Bridge pickup has been replaced with a Bare Knuckle Miracle Man that is super hot and great for metal riffing. The (edit:) neck is a DiMarzio Liquifire 7 which is nice for leads and jazzy cleans. Was rewired more than once in its life and is currently setup with a 3-way switch instead of the stock 5-way. Had a recent setup by a local tech ($250). Action is excellent across the fretboard, but the 14th fret on the G string doesn’t ring out as well as it should, so action could be raised on the high strings maybe. Also, there is a slight ground hum when the neck pickup is selected, so there might be a ground wire that could be resoldered. It hasn’t bothered me so I haven’t tried to fix it. Lots of fret life left (see images). Some wear in the finish on the back of the neck (image). Some nicks here and there as befits a 25 year old guitar. New volume knob and selector switch cap to replace missing ones. I also have a really nice pearloid pickguard which fits perfectly but was never installed (no drilling). A picture shows it just set in place. Will come with a generic hard shell case. Several 7620s in more common colorways with cheaper pickups are for sale for about $1000 on Reverb right now. They’ll probably sell for about $800-$850. I’m asking $850.
