Description
Beautiful 1920's craftsman style tiger oak treadle sewing machine made by The Free Sewing Machine Company out of Rockford Illinois. Antique over 100 years old. Made around 1(contact info removed). "The Free" No. 5 treadle sewing machine is one of my favorite machines. The art deco peacock design on the pillar is in great condition. The shuttle is driven by a unique mechanism called "Rotoscillo" which makes it much smoother than Singers of that time. These treadles are also known for using lots of ball bearings in the treadle which makes for fast and smooth treadling. This machine is functioning and sews a nice straight stitch. Uses standard needles. Has attachments and comes with 4 long bobbins and the shuttle. Also including copy of manual. I have been using it as an entry table as the wood and styling is gorgeous!!
