This AVET HXJ reel is a “RAPTOR” model. The Raptor series offers TWICE the power/drag compared to the non-Raptor models. It features a 2-speed design, with a high gear for quickly ripping baits through the water and a low gear that provides the power needed to land a trophy sized fish with ease. It also has a “magic cast” feature that ensures tangle-free casting, and its narrow spool prevents rod twist and the line from bunching up unevenly while landing a fish. It’s an awesome combo! The rod is simply stunning! I tried to capture it in sunlight so you can see the beautiful graphite blend. These rods are designed by Rick Ozaki, who is well-known for his work as a manager and designer for brands like Calstar, Avet, and Tady, among others. These rods are built to be comparable to Calstar rail rods but at a lower price point, allowing you to allocate more of your budget towards a high-end reel (like this one) while still having a rod that can take full advantage of it. It is fully loaded with 65-pound metered braid, which changes color every hundred feet. This feature allows you to gauge the depth of your bait, and it has a 40-pound mono top-shot. It is ready to go!
