Description

Micalizzi Antiques and Furniture Restoration, Phone: ((contact info removed)). Located on 28 Harrison avenue Building #9 Englishtown New Jersey. Hours: Monday - Friday 9-4, Saturday 10-3. Beautiful Carved Mahogany Curio cabinet with a Rich History. The cabinet is in amazing condition and looks to have been professionally refinished at some point in the past. Its from the Early 1900's but I dont have an accurate year. It has a mirrored back along with a mirrored floor. Both of the mirrors are in really nice condition with some very light fading in spots. The curved glass surrounds both sides along with the huge glass door. The edges of every glass panel are beveleld and look to be all hand made-blown. It has 5 thick glass shelves each of which has a defined plate groove in the back to allow dishes to be displayed upright. The top of the cabinet has a nice hand carved floral design that flows the whole length of the piece. The ceneter columns have beautiful carved ends that aslo act as the legs upfront. The Front door still has a working lock and key. It looks to be the original set but I cannot confirm. The Cabinet is very solid and weighs alot, difficult to move around. This cabinet comes with a great history, having been in a Historic Local Home for over a Century. This Cabinet came from one of the largest and oldest homes in Englishtown New Jersey (Settled 1675). The Home is the "Moses Laird House" which Housed General George Washington as a honored guest the night of June 29th,1778 (The day after the succesful victory at The Battle of Monmouth). Although this piece was not in the house during his stay, it still has a very long history with the Historic Home. It was Even featured in "the Asbury park Sunday Press" on September 14th, 1969. At this time the House was Known as the "Carr House" and was being documented for its beauty and history. The Cabinet is large and measures 64"L x 20"w x 72.5"H. check out out other postings for more. Something for everyone! Come take a look!!!
