Description

A bold and atmospheric lithograph of Le Havre harbor by renowned French modernist Bernard Buffet, dated 1972. Known for his expressive, angular linework and architectural compositions, Buffet captures the drama of the bustling port city with towering masts, classical buildings, and a brooding gray sky. The colors are vibrant yet restrained, with steely blues, ochre, and deep black outlines that create a scene full of tension and energy. A striking mid-century piece that brings drama and structure to any space. Ideal for collectors of Bernard Buffet, European cityscapes, or modern graphic art. The piece is titled Le Havre on the original Academy Arts label on the back, reflecting its mid-century era of production and presentation. Printed signature at the upper right and dated '72 at the upper left. This is a vintage plate signed housed in a classic wood frame with polished chrome trim. Wired in the back and ready for easy hanging. The frame shows wear consistent with age, including scratches and minor scuffing to the chrome trim. Wood portions have some surface marks and tiny dings. The lithograph itself is clean and well-protected under glass. Frame: 41" wide, 1.5" deep, and 29" high. Visible image: 35.5" wide and 23.5" high.
