This vacuum actually works extremely well for what it is. My parents sold appliances for years in fact my mom still does, she won this the year that whirlpool, who owns maytag, acquired Hoover. Despite the name this is a Hoover classic. Mine you, a Hoover classic is the vacuum that oreck was designed to compete against, meaning this thing does amazing on flat carpet but it has no hoses extensions or accessories it is as simple as vacuums get. My parents stopped using it when the dog chewed the cord up. I am a certified electrician and I have repaired the cord professionally using solid terminals and heat shrinks. This vacuum has been stored indoors for the last 2 years I am fixing the basement up into a b&b right now and currently trying to work my way to the pool table and this is one of many items that simply must go.
