Victorian Antique Carved Walnut Slipper Bench Needlepoint Upholstery Burl Panels

Beautiful Victorian antique carved walnut slipper bench / sewing or storage bench featuring decorative burl wood panels, incised scrollwork, shaped supports, and a turned stretcher. The hinged upholstered seat opens to reveal a spacious wooden storage compartment. The seat is upholstered in a traditional floral needlepoint/tapestry-style fabric with soft pink, cream, gold, and muted green flowers against a rich brown background. Decorative contrasting burl panels and dark incised detailing give the piece wonderful Victorian character. A charming and functional antique that would work beautifully as a slipper bench, vanity or dressing bench, piano/organ bench, sewing bench, footstool, or decorative accent piece. Antique, pre-owned condition with age-appropriate wear and patina. The wood shows scratches, scuffs, finish wear, small nicks/chips, and areas of edge wear consistent with age and use. There is a visible split/crack in one of the shaped wooden supports near the stretcher connection, as shown in the photos. The interior storage compartment shows staining, marks, scratches, and general wear. The needlepoint-style upholstery remains attractive overall but shows age, wear, and some discoloration; the decorative trim has areas of wear/fraying and visible tacks. Hinged seat opens as shown.
