Description

Excellent condition 1969 Gibson J-200. All original. Long description ahead here. Please note that this guitar was sent to me in MINT condition, but was damaged by FedEx (as of 03/06/25 I have an active dispute with them), and is the reason why it is labeled as excellent. This guitar was packed well inside its original case, so I can only assume that it was thrown around or mishandled by FedEx, causing the damage you see. Appraised by Music City Vintage Guitars in Nashville at $12,000 before the damage, $10,000 post damage, and somewhere in the $11,000 range after the damage has been repaired. I‘ve also included the quote for a repair from Music City Vintage Guitars (he dolled the price up a bit for FedEx, it will be a decent amount less than quoted). There is a current 2-4 week wait cue on repairs through my luthier, so I’m listing this here for this price in anticipation of the repair. Happy to discuss the price if you plan to purchase and repair with your own luthier. The top has two identical cracks from what looks to be where something was dropped on the guitar. You can make this assumption from the damage near the lower bout binding. This of course damaged the binding as well, but is still in tact as pictured in the case. I also noticed what appears to be damage to the back of the neck, right where the neck meets the case when sitting flush. Again, I can only assume this was due to a lack of knowledge of how to properly pack a guitar from the original owner, in additon to FedEx doing what FedEx does. Very minor, but worth noting. Outside of the mentioned damage, this is a beautiful example of a late 60’s J-200. Original bridge. Original tuners work and stay in tune perfectly. Original pickguard is in great shape. Nice big boomy sound as you would expect from an older J-200. Neck is thicker but not too flat. Medium weight. Essentially a closet queen beauty. Comes with original case as pictured. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have on this one. Willing to ship or drive a reasonable distance. Always open to offers!
